Ripped Script is a series I created to bring some of my old, cringe-worthy scripts to life instead of letting them collect dust in a tin in the loft. The concept was simple: turn these forgotten scripts into short visual skits, then react to them with a mix of laughter and critique. Though I only managed to produce a couple of episodes, I’m proud of what I made.

Here they are…enjoy the chaos!

Episode 1 - Long Lost Brother

Episode 2 - Fish Monger Sketch

A short stage play
written by Pete Butler (2013)

When self-appointed neighbourhood watch leader Deborah calls an emergency meeting in her living room, only three oddball residents show up: Vavara, a conspiracy-loving Russian expat; Jim, the local wisecracker; and a gloomy goth teenager with stepdad issues.

What starts as a mundane attempt to boost community spirit takes a sinister turn when Deborah reveals a chilling suspicion — the new man living at number 57 might be a convicted serial killer. As tensions rise and paranoia brews, Vavara shares a string of disturbing “findings” pulled from the darkest corners of the street, while the goth kid sees the situation as the perfect cover for a personal vendetta.

As the neighbourhood watch spirals from disorganized to downright dangerous, secrets unravel, motives clash, and the line between fact and fiction begins to blur.  Is the man at 57 truly a threat… or are the real dangers already inside the room?

A dark comedy about suspicion, suburbia, and the twisted lengths people go to in the name of safety.
